A second woman has come forward after disturbing accusations about Brand New frontman Jesse Lacey surfaced last week. Lacey was accused of soliciting nude photographs from a woman when she was 15 years old.
In response to the sweeping allegations, the band has canceled their upcoming shows in Europe. Lacey himself seemed to acknowledge the accusations, without directly addressing them, admitting he has sought help for some of his behavior.
“I am sorry for how I have hurt people, mistreated them, lied, and cheated. I am sorry for ignoring the way in which my position, status, and power as a member of a band affected the way people viewed me or their approach to their interactions with me” he said. You can read his full response here.
Now, in a new interview with Pitchfork, a second woman has come forth — alleging that Lacey also began an inappropriate relationship with her when she was 17 years old.
The woman claims that Lacey subjected her to “countless masturbatory video chat sessions,” and “attempted to manipulate [her] into engaging in sexual situations with other people, on camera, for his viewing pleasure.”
The report further alleges that Jesse Lacey “kissed and touched her in ways she didn’t want”.
“I was walking around with him to find his backpack, and then it went from zero to 60 when he closed the door,” she says. “He pinned me against the wall with his knee between my legs.” She describes the incident as one of “several instances of coercion during physically intimate situations” with Lacey. The two kept in touch, primarily online and occasionally in person, until Driskill was 23.
