The 2017 Vans Warped Tour is right around the corner and the touring music festival is looking more and more like the soundtrack to a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater game. Thus far, we have only heard potential rumors about who could be on the tour this year though a confirmation will be coming soon.
The first wave of bands have officially been confirmed by Alternative Press, who spoke exclusively to a source close to the music festival regarding the rumors.
At the time, it was widely rumored that Bad Religion, Lagwagon, CKY, Black Veil Brides, Beartooth, Hatebreed, and GWAR are a few of the many bands playing the year as well as five bands from Fat Wreck Chords and 5 from Epitaph.
Last year, the Vans Warped Tour placed a newfound emphasis on heavy bands. They doubled the size of the Monster Energy area, with the addition of a new stage. This added a host of heavy bands to the Warped Tour roster which also attracted more of a diverse audience. It seems the touring festival is looking to continue that trend.
The official announcement will happen on March 22nd at Full Sail University in Florida. The event will kick off at 1PM PST and will be streamed live online.
According to AP, that leak is only partially true. The source confirmed specifically that Beartooth, CKY, GWAR and Hatebreed will be on the tour this summer.
With the first wave of bands confirmed, it seems that the Vans Warped Tour are making a play for an older age group, not their typical teen heavy crowd. This is good news and it will be great seeing these bands on the road this summer. The Vans Warped Tour will be on the road from Jun 16 – Aug 6, 2017.
