The first single from Suicide Silence’s upcoming self-titled album has released on Spotify and Apple Music with little fanfare. It seems the band is letting the new single speak for itself, as it has already caused quite a stir.
We first heard ‘Doris’ a few months ago in a live clip from the band’s performance at Knotfest. The song featured clean vocals which seemed to upset some fans who didn’t like the new direction. If this song doesn’t suit your tastes, you probably won’t like the rest of the album either — the band says their new record will feature 70% clean vocals. That’s a tough pill to swallow for some fans who don’t think they’re brootal enough.
Suicide Silence is clearly exploring a new sound on their upcoming self-titled album. They worked with Ross Robinson (Slipknot, Korn, Limp Bizkit) on this album so you can definitely hear the nu-metal vibes. One thing is for sure — more people will be talking about this album than they would have been had it been just a straight up deathcore track.
